The Benefits of Closet Organization

Do you hate the thought of having to dig through your closet everyday trying to find something that isn’t wrinkled and that halfway match so you can get to work on time and presentably dressed? Do you procrastinate when it comes time to do laundry because you don’t want to spend the time digging in your closet for empty hangers, and then have to try to squeeze the clean clothes in somewhere in between last year’s bridesmaid dress and your husband’s suit he can’t even fit into anymore but won’t let you toss out because he is in denial? If this sounds like you, then you could really benefit from some closet organization! Sure, it can take some time to turn that chaos into some sort of order, but think of how much better it will make you feel. You won’t have to face that struggle every morning, and you won’t put off doing laundry until you just have nothing else to wear. You have enough stress in your life without having to get upset just trying to find your clothes, so why do that to yourself?

Take a good long look at the clutter you call your closet. Clean all of the clutter out of the floor, leaving only your clothing hanging, and look at how much space it takes up and how much you have left. Do you need even more space, or could you turn some of the extra space that you have into storage space? Most closets are constructed basically the same way, with a shelf on top of a rod from which your clothes hang. Could you change that somehow and have more space?

This is not an opportunity to run out and go on a shopping spree, so don’t even let that thought enter your mind. Think about your current closet layout, and what type of situation you are dealing with. Do you have extra space after you hang all of your clothing, or do you have clothing that you could store elsewhere, or donate to free up extra space? If you have clothes hanging in your closet that you haven’t worn in a year or more, it is time to do something with them. Once you have done that, do some research on closet organizers and try to determine what type of organizer would best suit your needs, and fit into your closet space. Look at the costs of each, and determine if it will fit into your budget, and make certain that you also think about installation, whether you can do it yourself, or need to hire someone to do it for you, and if so figure that into the cost as well. You may also want to try to purchase an organizer that comes with some sort of warranty, just to make certain you really do get a good deal.

Before you make a purchase, make certain that you measure and re-measure your closet space. You don’t want to spend your hard-earned cash on an organizer that won’t fit into your closet!

Another thing to think about is how much weight your closet organization system can support. You don’t want to overload it with shoes, games, books, etc., and then have it all come crashing down. Make certain that you get an organizer that can hold up to suit your needs, or else you are just wasting your money, time, and effort.

How great will it be to look for your clothing tomorrow morning and it all be right there at your fingertips? You won’t have to spend ten minutes tossing stuff out of the bottom of your closet to find your shoes, you won’t have to look for excuses not to do laundry, and your life will be much easier and less stressful, just by getting and using a closet organizer!
